Mike Hevner aka Hevster, in Montague NJ, or TDIJETTA99 dba L&S Auto Sales in Port Jervis NY, are the two guys closest to you. You might talk with one or both of them, see whether they are available, or if they know someone closer to you who can be trusted.Need a tech/guru to do timing belt kit on an 09' TDI on Long Island New York. Is there anybody qualified in my area to make proper installation. I keep checking the list but hard to believe there is no one capable of receiving a recommendation for this work. Does anybody have the name of a shop they had used. Thanks
thanks for the good word!Automotive Consulting Services

Hello,my name is Rocky Culpepper I had a bad experience with a mechanic operating out of the bethlehem and allentown.craigslist listiings he didn't do what I had asked him to do and I had to get my car towed back home.He also didn't have all the parts some nuts and bolts and screws were missing even a bracket to the motor mount as well. And then I found Roman vw man in hatsboro, pa. This gentlmen helped me with the help of a surgeon in the operating room and a lot of information and advice about the car. He had found all of the missing nuts and bolts and screws even a bracket from the motor mount. I just wanted to let the tdi community know that yes there's a good vw mechanic in hatsboro, pa. And his name is Roman, thanks for your time and patience with my situation. God bless you rocky

No offense, but given the fact that he is practically a noob when it comes to working on TDI's, why is it you are recommending him for the TDI trusted mechanics list?I found a new mechanic near me today and wanted to share. He said that he has only done one timing belt on a CR diesel but now has the tools and is willing to learn. There were several BMWs, a couple of Mercs, and a new Beetle sitting outside his shop. Only BMWs on the shop floor. He has three bays and a very sparse office. There is nothing around so if you want to wait, you had better bring your own entertainment. I am planning on taking the JSW to him for the 80K mile service.
In this case no need to add them to the official list until (if/when) there is more info... This thread is hardly the definitive list itself, that's what the document is for, and the author's can edit that at their discretion... As we all know, it can be hard to find (good) people to work on these cars, and it's possible kjclow's post will help someone get some good work done while saving some money versus a dealer... Also, kjclow fully disclosed the lack of experience with VWs... Had he not given that full disclosure I could see your point... Some skills to translate from one German car company to another...No offense, but given the fact that he is practically a noob when it comes to working on TDI's, why is it you are recommending him for the TDI trusted mechanics list?
Seems like the original purpose for this thread was lost sight of long ago. I'm sure other TDI mechanics out there agree. So sad.
What do you consider reasonable? User Losha is in Sioux Falls, SD... [FONT="]http://www.vdubautorepair.com/Does anybody know of someone within a reasonable distance of Fargo, ND to do a Timing Belt on 02 TDi?
Yuri is right, Losha in Sioux Falls is the closest guru. Merker at Midwest Motorworks in Hudson, WI, is a little further, but maybe there is something else you can do in the Twin Cities if you go that way. I don't know as if there is anything else in Sioux Falls except for the good TDI mechanic.Does anybody know of someone within a reasonable distance of Fargo, ND to do a Timing Belt on 02 TDi?
Wife has a high mileage car that I would like this done on. Don't know when it was done last to be honest. Can't quite pull the trigger on bringing it to just anybody.
