In Northwest Ohio, I strongly recommend Mark Harrington, Little German Village, U.S. Route 6, Ridgeville Corners, OH 1.419.267.5255. Mark has worked on 4 diesel vw's for me - from an Ecodiesel to the 04TDI Passat. Has also worked on at least 5 gassers for me. Honest, reliable and knowledgeable. Also sells used VW's.

Any of you guys in WNY or Northwest Pa want to take up a donation to steal on of these TDI mechanics and help him set up shop somewhere around here? Sure would be nice to have someone in this area. Snow ski in the winter and water ski in the summer. Not far from Walkins Glen Raceway! Even some automotive ice racing to partake in and dog sled racing if you are so inclined.

There are a couple independent VW mechanics in the area but none of them will work on a TDi.

I'm seriously considering having him do my 2001.5 passat V6 4motion's TB. I don't have the tools or the WANT to do it myself. You have NO IDEA how easy we have it with the transverse engine cars. I did a 1.8T TB a month ago on passat and it's a beeatch.

You might want to add European Auto Repair in Alameda CA. Albert has an excellent staff with lots of experience working on TDI's as well as other diesels and gassers. For those of you who have both MBZ and VW's in your fleet this is a one stop shop. Prices are very reasonable and quality is exceptional!

I recently had my timing belt replaced. My car runs excellent and the price was the best I could find. The more I talk with Albert the more I like him!

They work on VW, Audi, Volvo, BMW and Mercedes Benz. It's a clean well run shop with lots of return business and many long time happy clients. You don't last long in Alameda if you don't run a good business. It's a small town that is mostly inhabited by natives and second or third generation residents.

San Juan Capistrano VW should get credit and be listed . They have formally hosted official " TDI CLUB " meetings in the past.
It the best place for warranty work on a TDI. It is true that they lost Bob their TDI specialist, they still have guys that like working on TDI's.
Bob or ( Bobby) is up north somewhere ?

So in CA for a VW dealer that is the place to recomend.

I purchased a 2002 Jetta TDI from them and while I was there I had a chance to talk to the Service Manager. Wanted to know what oil had been put in the vehicle when they serviced it before I picked it up. He went into this thing about it being a VW and that one had to follow VW requirements for the oils, especially the TDI and that the newer TDI were a PD injection and required a very special oil! He emphasized Synthetic oils only and following the VW guidelines for the different TDIs. I was amazed with his knowledged considering everything I have heard from many of you and your problems at dealerships. This guy talked about oils and TDI just like he was one of us! That was impressive.

Update: Do I have to take the above back because someone there lies? Only got one key with car. They said they called the original owner who traded it in and he said that is all he ever got. Well I called his home today and talked to his wife. They did have the two other keys and a tag with code. Will mail them to me. Well somebody lies and makes me wonder if they lie about oils too! They probably thought why bother calling to see if the original owner has the keys as no one will ever know!

Just got my T-belt changed today. Used dieselgeeks kit, took the car to this place I have taken all my VWs for 10 yrs now.
Genes Foreign Car service. they only work on VW/audi and Hondas. knowledgeable and trusted people. their father came from germany , opened the shop and was working on beetles. the sons inherited the shop and kept up the tradition. They are located on Rt 3 in Broomal, delaware county, PA. My labor was $303 including waterpump change, coolant and tax and I picked up the car @ 2:30 pm.
I have taken 3 TDIs , numerous Sciroccos there and had no complaint with pricing or quality of work

I notice that there's no one listed for SD, NE, and Iowa in here. So I want to add my name to the list, as somebody who had some hands on experience with TDI little bet still much more to learn for me. Little bet about my experience with TDI, I have done TB job, Intercooler cleaning, EGR intake cleaning, Boost gauge, Injectors, turbo, and other small things. I have done a lot of other repairs like suspension, brakes, engine, on other cars. On all my cars I do repairs myself, don't like go to dealers or repair shops to do repairs and don't have ton's of $$$$. I know I can do the job it my self instead of somebody else plus I enjoy doing it myself and save $$$. BTW, I called one of the listings in CA and I was quoted nearly $1100.00 for a TB/WP change on an A4 Jetta TDI.

Average for this work is 700-900 tops. Get a quote before you walk in the door.

I'm going to assume this is one of the shops in the Bay Area that will work on TDIs but does not specialize in TDIs.
