I have an update for the map/list. Digi Sport Performance, owned by Brian Hague, is no longer in business. Fortunately, his employee took over the business. It is now owned by Robert Pierce, and called Pierce Family Automotive. Robert is very knowledgeable with TDIs and VW/Audi cars in general. I highly recommend him to anyone in DFW who needs TDI work done. Their address is:

Hey there I can't seem to find a mechanic in Northern Virginia that is still in operation, Does anyone have some good ones in the Fairfax area?

Hey, I am looking for one in the area, too. There is a shop in Fairfax City called German Auto Specialist. I stopped by the get a card and he had at least one TDI on the lot. He said they have a lot of experience. I am thinking of trying that out.

One question to ask anyone is do they have vcds. It may not be needed for what you need done, but it would show that they at least have some experience using the proper scan tool to get codes.

I suggest that you go to either the VW Passat Family (NMS and B7) TDIs (2012+) or TDI 101 and post your question(s) with good detail. You'll get a quicker response in either of those categories than here in the Trusted Mechanics List.
