Trunk Latch

So I'm at 1200 miles on my JSW and thus far no problems. Hopefully, not getting the extended warranty will prove wise.

The one issue I have is I can't open the truck(hatch) without using the key remote. If I use the drivers side switch I hear it unlock but I'm unable to open in unless I use the key switch. Any ideas?

I might be missing something very minor but if it's still bugging me I'll have them look at it at the 6K check in.

Make sure all four doors are unlocked first - then you can open the hatch.

If you hit the 'unlock' button on the driver's door the rear hatch is also unlocked. If the hatch button in the door doesn't unlock the hatch alone, there's a problem.

Its a coding problem, VW is aware of it and working on a software fix, in the meantime just unlock all the doors then operate the trunk release. It will work fine.

If it's a 'coding problem' will VW eventually fix this for free once it's figured out? Also, do the dealers know about this? Should I bring it up at my 6K visit?

cmeller,

I confirm the behavior you describe with my '10 JSW. The driver's side door "hatch release" button makes a sound but doesn't work. It's been the same since day 1. The only way I've been able to open the rear hatch is with the remote. Holding the fob trunk button ~2 sec or double clicking the fob door unlock are the only ways that work on my car.

Just posting to confirm the behavior you originally reported. Can anyone confirm the "Known issue, VW working on a fix" statement? Wondering because if true, I'll wait...if not, I should let my dealer know about the issue.

Thanks,

Joe
