Hi Folks,

I'm planning to change the transmission fluid in my 06 Jetta TDI soon. Went to the dealer today to get the fluid and the guy said he would need the serial number off the transmission to order the correct fluid. He said it could be one of two fluids starting with either G52 or G70......so my question is where would one find this serial number..????....also I find it odd that a dealer does not stock this stuff. When I said I was going to change my trans fluid he kinda looked at me like I was crazy....lol

tks

VAG-COM (VCDS) scan will give you the Serial number.
In reallity, you have a TDI in DSG, or in Manual, no serial numbers required.
DSG fluid for the DSG, and normal Manual fluid for the Manual.

I would think it would be that simple as well...but not according to the dealer......appearently there were two types of fluids used in 06 jettas....?? I think i'm just going to forget about it for now.....my transmission was replaced at 7000 kms so it might not be correct on the vag com and i dont have one any way....

as mentioned, all I have heard of is two different transmissions in a 2006 Jetta that require their own fluid... the DSG and manual transmission

G 052 182 A2 is the DSG fluid

There are FOUR different automatic transmissions in 2006 Jettas, using FOUR totally different fluids.

If you have a 2006 Jetta TDI wagon, you have a Jatco 09A 5-speed autobox.
If you have a 2006 Jetta 2.0L gas wagon, you have the 01M 4-speed autobox.
If you have a 2006 Jetta TDI sedan, you have a DSG 02E 6-speed autobox.
If you have a 2006 Jetta 2.5L gas sedan, you have an Aisin 09G 6-speed autobox.

So which do you have?

Thanks for your reply.....I actually have a 5 spd Manual.....any thoughts?
Oh, LOL... I just assumed it was an autobox. :p

The manuals I just use whatever VAG's newest gear oil spec is. G60 or G70 I think?
