Have a 2015 Golf SEL TDI

Seems I lost all sensors for the TPMS, just get an error message on the dash, and I've tried to reset it, but nothing happens. With that I also lost the dash Temp, so I can't tell what temperature it is outside while driving. That happened about a month ago, but the other day it was warm enough that I wanted to turn on the AC, it's just flash's for a second and then nothing.

The only other odd thing about the car was about two weeks ago, I attempted to start the car and the dash just went wild, all kinds of lights lit up, nothing in order and no error messages. Almost seemed like a computer crash. I quickly turned the car off and waited a couple minutes, turned it back on and all was good.

I've been digging through search engine results, it's its been a slow process, any hits in the direction I could look. Checked all the fuses and they seem fine.

How old (or new) is your battery? The car doesn't have TPMS sensors, at least not on the way it sounds like you're talking about. It uses the ABS sensors and mismatched wheel speed, over time, will throw an alert.

I'm not sure your air condition issues would be caused by a low/weak battery but the other stuff certainly could.

I'm assuming you don't have vcds or obd11 since there's no scan posted, but if you want to check errors that's the way.

I would say between 4-5 years old. If I'm remember correctly, I replaced the original battery right around the 5 year mark. At this time, I don't have a OBD11, just ordered one.

There have been a few days in the last couple months that I've noticed it's a slow start, like the battery is not fully charged. I've always figured it was the car not running for 4-5 days and sitting in the cold. If drive it everyday, it doesn't really do that. But ya, time to replace the battery too it seems.

I was about to say if you replaced it at the five year mark then it should be good then I realized our cars are almost a decade old 😵💫😵💫😵💫.

I would start with the battery. You'll see all kinds of weird things with low battery. Then post up that scan and go from there.

Bought a BlueDriver Bluetooth Pro OBDII Scan Tool and this was the report. (But since multiple people suggested a battery, I'll do that tomorrow.

The randomness looks like low battery stuff. Generic scanners don't give any VW specific codes so I would still recommend vcds or obd11 at some point.

But you might not need either if a good battery clears it all up. And the generic scanner should be able to clear codes after the new battery so that you can at least get a fresh scan.

Replaced the battery, started the car, got the same errors about TPMS on the dash along with Stability Control errors, but Stabilty Control errors went away, the TPMS stayed. Cleared all codes, and scanned again. Restated the car a couple times and TPMS and outside air temp is gone.

AC seems to working however, so some improvement.

Just have these codes now.

1 Pending Code

1 Permanent Code

A lot of the TPMS and ESC errors will pop up anytime the battery is disconnected (or low) and they can be quicker than going on any short drive, normally clear by pulling out the driveway.

Temperature sensor is behind the front bumper.

ESC error went away. Ordered a new Temp Sensor, drove for about 40 minutes and turned the car off and on multiple times, but TPMS light is still on and it won't let me reset.

For the temp sensor your have to take off the front bumper

For the abs you'd have to take off a wheel

If you have a bad ABS sensor (linked to the tpms error), A VW specific scanner will tell you which wheel has the open circuit.

Wanted to drop an update on this. After trying to fix with the help of this forum, I decided that I would just get this sorted at my next service appointment, which happened quicker than I thought. On May 7th I got a Transmission error while driving to work, "Reverse Gear not Available". It was towed in and they found the following wrong.

Air Temp Sensor bad, found a few faults in other sensors, high resistance in some other wiring and then found the Mechatronic unit was bad, faults on the Mecha had resulted in error codes causing further check engine light codes.

All in all, my 2015 Golf SEL TDI with 142K miles was in the shop for 26 days, grand total in repairs (parts/labor) was just shy of $13K, all covered by warranty.

Was this extended warranty that you'd purchased? Or part of your purchase of the car?
Either way....glad you had it!

Found out from the dieselgate settlement that if the check engine light comes on, it’s covered under warranty until next May (at least for me).

Not that lucky, towed back to the shop this morning. Sounds like a driveshaft issue. They said if it's a workmanship issue, they will cover. Considering I didn't have any issues with the car until the transmission, and now this. I'm guessing someone missed something.
