You can misconstrue whatever I've said as much as you like, gm didn't have much of anything to do with emd or Detroit outside of being under the same umbrella to gain market shares where they didn't have an established presence. Neither company was dismantled and neither company had much of anything to do with gm's automotive section, as evident of their poor reputation of light duty diesel engines from the 80's till the late 90's. Arguably the partnership with Isuzu saved their truck lineup from going obsolete. Well along with billions of tax payers dollars.The post directly above his said what I quoted. It was further in your post you mentioned light duty. GM can and did produce good diesel engines in-house.
