Toureg - V10 - Diesel

I received a Toureg brochure from the local VW dealership...some info on the V10 Diesel - 5.0L, 308 HP, 553 lb-ft torque. No info on city/highway mpg.

Anybody know the estimated mpg and base pricing of this beauty? Availability?

I just received this email from local VW dealer regarding Toureg:

"Well, we have no official information on the price, mileage values, etc. for the V10 Touareg. I used the tdiclub.com resource to find out that we can probably expect EPA fuel economy ratings in the low to mid 20’s on average. As far as pricing is concerned, it will start out a few thousand above the V8 – so mid to high $40’s. The enthusiasts out there seem to be convinced that the car will come out as an ’05 model but we don’t even know about that yet!!! We are ready, we hope VW is ready soon."

Ken, the targeting pricing was to be ~$53k. The 6 cylinder models are in the newspaper right now for under $33k. That's a big premium to pay for the engine. Makes me wonder how many will be sold...

YIKES....!! Makes my Volvo V70 XC seem like a real bargain! I guess the Euro:USD has really bumped up the price of European cars!
