Has anybody dealt with this issue where the compressor clutch won't engage because the Torque limiter has released? This isn't serviceable without replacing compressor? Any help or insight to repair is greatly appreciated.
I tried to post the image but it's not appearing . There are 3 metal tabs that are bolted to the compressor hub and 3 ears on the clutch that the tabs should be pinched between them. https://my.alldata.com/repair/#/rep...itype/100/tsbs/20200514154352435/selfRefLink/You mean the breakaway bolts on the compressor hub?
Actually, with the "new" Forum software, you can drag and drop images directly from your computer. If you click on the "Insert Image" icon, a frame opens and you can just drop your image in. There is a size limit, so you might need to resize the pic...All images must be hosted either on the club server here or other places such as Imgur and others. Then post the link for them back here and they will show up. Serious stuff should be hosted here in my opinion as people tend to remove their pics from other places breaking the links and kind of ruining the thread without pics. There are threads here on how to do this.
A/C system was never worked on. Last summer A/C stopped working ,cooling fans weren't turning on when A/C was turned on with ignition on and engine off. Replaced the fan assy and the fans worked with A/C on and the engine running but compressor wouldn't run. Left it that way till now and saw the TSB about the compressor Torque limiter. Appreciate the info will have to get a compressor now unfortunate that the clutch assembly is not a serviceable item. Engineering at its best$$$$$.Yeah, you need a compressor. Those are sheer pins. There is also a chance that the the system was overcharged, or one (or neither) of the cooling fans is working properly. You also need to check the condition of the alternator clutch pulley. If it is locked up, it can cause that to happen.
