So, I bought and installed. Found one inconsistency with mine. When coasting with foot off throttle, fuel flow goes up to ~2.5-3gpm. I find this strange since I thought that they used no fuel coasting (in gear). What am I missing here?

Glad it works! The equation is for kPa, but oddly the "scale" parameters are for psi, at least that's how it's working on mine. I didn't realize there was a disparity there til now.. but hey, it works! :)
Something is wrong with that as my gauge for it shows to go over 25 to as much as 100 at times. I went back to the standard gauge for now.

That is strange. Foot off the throttle, coasting in gear, my fuel flow reads 0.0 gal/hour as it should. I think there are 2 separate variables/sensors you can read for fuel flow, either gal/hour or gal/min. Try setting yours for gal/hour perhaps?

I got funny readings from the boost gauge once when I started the app before the phone was done booting up completely. Because the SD card was not ready yet, Torque Pro complained that it could not read the profile off the SD card properly, and the units got messed up. I exited the program and restarted Torque Pro and it fixed itself.

I now have the program load itself on phone startup, and it does so "smartly"--it stays idle until the Android system is fully operational, with SD card ready to go, so no more errors.

Sorry, typo. Mine is set to G/hour. That might be the case with mine as well. I don't have an sd card in it right now since it is running on my old phone and I poached that card for my new phone when I got it. I have one ordered that should arrive today and I will report back when I install the card and reboot the phone.

Thanks for your help! Otherwise, so far, it's amazing and 2 other friends have ordered one after seeing mine. 1 mkVI jetta TDI and 1 oddball in a base Mazda3.

I could never get the Bluetooth module to link in torgue on my nexus 4. Worked just fine on my older android phone. Thought it was a version issue. Maybe its a module problem. Hmm

could also be your particular version of android that you are running or particular ROM if yours is rooted.

Great info here!!! I've just ordered my OBDII Blue Tooth Adapter from Amazon. I dug out my 2 year old Android HTC Hero from the desk drawer. What's the best way to download and install the Torque Pro App since this is no longer an active phone? I currently use ios with iPhone so do not have a Google account.

Thanks in advance...

figured out...all set, just need the OBD.

Great thread. I have Torque Pro running on my rooted Nook Color with a BAFX Products (TM) - PIC18F2480 Bluetooth OBD2 scan tool adapter.

So, what should I monitor? What is the most useful?

I have boost, EGT, engine and trans temp. I'll add the two temp sensors from the OP to keep an eye on regens (car has 250 miles, so no regen yet).

Cool, thanks! What levels should I set up alarms for? I want to get an alarm when regen is occurring as well as when temp is too hot, etc.

I have catb1s1 set to alarm at 1000F. Engine temp set to alarm at 225. Regen will get up to 1320 or so and engine temp usually around 203 to 208F.

Subscribing. My son has an old Android phone he doesn't use any more. :) Will the free version work for boost, egt, fuel rate, and water temp, or do I need the pro version?

I believe I read that the Lite version showed trans temp as well. I know that Pro reads it. However, it's exactly the same as my coolant temp, so i don't think the trans temp is accurate.

Yes it can. It also can show Fuel cost for the Trip as well as the Fuel cost per Mile or km.
Great then and thanks for the reply. My 04 Passat computer is always optimistic when it comes to average MPG. I don't like that and I do not have a way to calibrate it to be more accurate so I am open to suggestions to get a better tool to gauge MPG (among other things).
My next question concerns some recent unpleasant reviews of the Newest Elm327 Bluetooth V1.5 OBD2 OBD II Auto Diagnostic Scanner Mini Adapter as being 'fake'. Anybody shares my concern about this issue? I realize it is not an expensive part but I would like to hear some pros/cons or possibly better alternatives (I already know about the Scangauge II option).
