From the Frank Zappa song by the same name...

"That's right, you heard right, the secret word for tonight is...mudshark."

And for those of you familiar with the song, I have fished from the window of a room at the Edgewater Inn in Seattle Washington. $12 shrimp plate from room service for bait; they took out the bait and tackle shop in the lobby when they tried to make the place more upscale.

Named for when in 1991 my friends and I were fishing from my boat in NW Florida. We caught tons of King and Dolphin. We also drank way toooooo much booze. Upon our return we needed to clean the fish at my buddies house. We only had 2 filet knives and I was the drunkest. SOOOOOOO....I became the Gut Boy..."Hey Gut Boy....haul off some of dem guts"...."Hey Gut Boy...bring me that bucket to get rid of dem guts". Well this turned into a drunken pagan ritual with guts hanging from the neighbors trees/roofs (not my neighbors mind you...LOL).

The next day, Chris (my barber who coined the term Guttboy), decided to tell everyone he knew my "NEW" nickname. From then on it has stuck!

My handle is a word I just made up three or four years ago when I was at a loss for an IM handle. It's based on the thought of potential, excitement, power, etc. I was trying to turn a word that is usually as adjective 'hyper' into a verb. Dorky, I know. I think I also had iTunes playing the song "Hyperballad" at the time.

Mine I hope is pretty obvious. I am a photographer and really like my Leica M camera system (Now if they would only hurry up on their digital M, I'd really be happy and poorer as a result).

That's our first dog, Booker. For some reason, we always called him Bookerdog, even though his real namesake is Booker Noe, former master distiller at Jim Beam. Also very fitting because as a puppy, his name really was "Booker NO!"

The avatar is my oldest son August.

Mine is Vin because in the past if I used Vinh (real) I keep getting Vihn (note h and n switched). Then all hell breaks loose on the pronunciation.

Ah yes, a young geek. I remember the good old days of acoustic couplers and hacking the school mainframe with my TRS-80 model III with dual 5 1/4 floppies....
I remember doing that to (on the same mainframe) and nearly getting killed because I peeked at the printout someone was making of all the passwords on the system (paging Mr. Stibolt.)

You are probably the only one on this forum that actually had an account on my BBS.

The hussy (calico) and gigolo (red) thank you, and so do I!

There are individual photos of each under my photos ... and the gigolo's is a riot.

MrChill is not just cool....pun intended, its my name. Chris Hill. Therefore C.Hill as I used to write on my time card in High school. One day I was in a rush and wrote CHill with no separation. My Boss took the time cards later and said" Chill? Who's chill?" To which I said" Oh! I forgot to put the dot after the C!"

She then decied she liked calling me Mr Chill, and as I was working with several classmates, They then took it back to school where I forever became Mr. Chill. Even to thier parents! Imagine that!

Well okay... where did the name come from?! That would be ELSAinRI, no?

We had 7 dachshunds growing up. The 5 pups got kind of adopted by each of the 5 kids, and my dad was a sucker for the cuties, so they got to stick around, as a herd. Many many laughs.

i am a UFO enthusiast and have been using this handle for many years. yes, they are here! VW reverse engineered the propulsion system from a crashed UFO to develop the advanced TDI diesel! how do you think they made it such a long distance on a small amount of fuel.

__. Like a lot of you, mine is an old nickname that goes back to school -- but with me it was 40 years ago. You know how guys in a dorm get with smutty jokes and I got lumbered with a nickname that grew out of open showers. Of course, I was already past the age of military service by the time most of you were programming your TSR-100's and Commode-Odors in high school, so mine hasn't got anything to do with early ARPA-Net or gaming stuff. But when the company I was working for got bought by BMW, a lot of the people there brought up the old nickname and it got pronounced Mr. GootWrench for a while ... sometime, even Herr GootWrench but that was an aberation in time.

__. Anybody else using a nickname that's 40 years old????

I use a nickname that's almost 60 years old (60 in July) with family and a couple of old school friends, but I don't use it here. It was hung on me by my oldest sister who recently died. I have been thinking about dissappearing and coming back with that handle for security reasons.

[quoteMoondawg -> A "high adventure" scout leader at one of the summer camps I went to.

Then, in college, the name that suddenly came into my head during an ice-breaker activity. The instructions were: Tell us your name, your nickname, or whatever you want to be called today. I blurted out Moondawg, and it stuck.

At the time, I had a 2004 Jetta with the Golf front end, hence the name. Too bad it was a 2.0 and that it got totalled.
