When the time came to get the belt done on my MK IV, I found someone through this page that did it out of his home garage. Now time has come for my MK VII. Anyone around who can do it for a good price? Just seems to be one of those things that the dealers charge you an arm and a leg for and many mechanics don't seem to want to do it.

FYI: Local garage quote $499 for the kit and $470 labour.
That's a great price! Just make sure to let them know to disconnect the dpf differential pressure sensors (inside the shiny pouch) and be gentle with the hoses, otherwise they burn like re-entry.

I detach the electrical connectors, and the bracket. Then there is a bracket that holds both lines to the TB cover, undo that. Then let the whole assembly float and be gentle with it.

It doesn't guarantee it doesn't burn, but the chances are way better.
