Got the front seat set for my 03 Jetta. Nice enough, solidly enough made mats in a generic sort of way, but:

  • Disappointed that only the driver's side had the locating holes to secure the mat
  • Disappointed that the locating/securing holes weren't punched out, I had to jaggedly cut them out
  • Disappointed that the locating/securing holes didn't hold the mat to the locating/securing posts, but popped right off within an hour, repeatedly. The whole point of getting Weathertechs was to not have them slide forward and jam the brakes or throttle.
  • Disappointed that Weathertech no longer sells the A4 digital fit floor liners
Disappointed in WeatherTech. Put in sheet metal screw with fender washers to hold the mats over the securing/locating posts. Looks like crap (luckily am not a car pride person), hope they will hold. You have been told.

Also disappointed in my A4 weather tech mats for my 02 Golf. Bad fitment, always slips off the securing posts.

There are just too many to list....
The ones I got from Volkswagen fit perfect. They are the lesser fancy ones, though, so they don't have the model name on them. But otherwise have been fine for several years now.

Throw them in the trash. I would never secure something with a sheet metal screw in an area that might see water. Over time, your floor pan could rust out and the rust will grow were the sheet metal screw compromised the cars rust proofing treatment.

Are they a slush mat type? Got a pic and/or part number? I'm in need of a set of slush mats for my '01 but only have found HuskyLiners. I had HuskyLiners in my Ranger and they were nice, for the first 3 years. My wife has WeatherTech mats in her Fusion and they've held up great for the last 5 years.

Yours are nicer in my opinion, the Jetta rubber mat is the best in the car business, I have the BMW equivilant and they are crap...

Return them, weather tech is very good at customer service.
I can second this. When I bought my car it came with "Monster Mats". They fit well and snapped right into the pins on the floor. However, I wore big holes through them under both my heels in less than 15,000 miles. Then I bought a set of WeatherTech All Season floor mats. They did take a little modification to make them snap into the floor pins using the VW round plastic anchors (from my Monster Mats). However, those WT mats lasted over 55,000 miles without a problem. When I called WeatherTech and complained about a hole developing under my clutch foot's heel, they shipped me a brand new set for free and these mats were over 3.5 years old. They were very nice and didn't even ask for a picture of the hole I wore in the mat, they just sent me a new pair. I told them that I only needed the driver's side one and they said that they always ship them as pairs. Anybody need a passenger side (Mk5 Jetta) front WeatherTech mat? I have a brand new one.

Have Fun!

So weather tech used to sell the custom fit ones?

How is the weather tech cargo liner for the wagon?

I think that almost everything that WeatherTech makes is "custom fit", but you might be thinking of a particular product. They make 2 different floor protection products. The make the "Digital fit" floor liner which is like a rubber tray with high sides and it can hold a lot of water (or whatever). The also sell "All Weather Mats" which are totally different. They are more like Monster Mats, except thicker and made from better rubber.

I have never tried their cargo liner, but judging by their other products, it will probably fit perfectly.

Are you talking about that Gorilla mat with the velcro like cargo blocks? (I think VW now calls it a CarGo mat system). This is not really a liner in the way WeatherTech does it. Theirs conforms to the floor, wheel wells, and other details and it goes up about 3 inches all the way around. You could spill a gallon (or more) of milk back there, sop most of it up with a towel, pull out the liner and hose it off and you are good to go. I would not want to try that with my Gorilla CarGo mat.

Have Fun!
