Well people; somewhat dissappointed with the responses I've gotten and still no further to resovling an issue.

I am hearing a small thuding noise each time the tire rotates while I drive: I've had some people tell me its the shocks but I just don't but it. Small thud on the drivers side tire. 1996 tdi passat anyone else have this problem?

No.

Have you gone to a good tire shop yet to have them take a look at it? You could have a flat-spotted tire, out-of-round tire, tread-separated tire, bent wheel, bad wheel bearing, rock in the tire, cut in the tire, dead cat stuck to tire, warped brake rotor, etc.

Sorry you're disappointed, but it's pretty hard to diagnose a 'thud' over the internet. Can you even tell which corner of the vehicle that the sound is coming from?

Hi its coming from the drivers side tire. Just that one particular side. Warmped rotor? Hmm.. maybe.. but it makes the thud on each revolution... wheel bearing maybe but don't think it would make a thudding noise.

Something you could try would be to change the tire and wheel assembly to a different location on the car and see if the 'thud' follows the wheel and tire or stays with the original location. That would rule out if it was in the car itself or the wheel.

Hi thanks for all your input.. I took it into a shop ; they had a free frontal inspection going on ; the mech. said that the tire was off; he couldn't find anything wrong with the front end... so well see how this goes... it just means more money for tires and an alignment afterwards...
