First, man oh man, when it’s raining I’d better not open my windows! The water just comes right in the top.

Two: My wheels are missing the VW logo center caps and all four inner centers (?) have rust. Should I treat these surfaces before I install center caps?

Third: Both front and rear wheels have small, rigid mud guards. Do they help cause rust? Should I remove them?

Thanks.

1. Aerodynamics
2. Meh. You can if you want. Plenty of cars have gone hundreds of thousands of miles without it and do just fine. If I was to do so, I'd probably go with something like Fluid Film.
3. Yes. Yes. (Well, put it this way: trapping salty water (winter) and holding it against the body of the car certainly can't help the corrosion situation.)

Thank you so much. I’m still struggling to find center caps that fit.

Before winter comes again I’ll have the flap lids removed. If I do it something bad will happen.

Time to break out the vernier calipers, get a measurement on the diameter of the hub opening....then set out to find something that diameter.
Aliexpress has a wide variety of sizes.....not OE quality (plastic is more brittle), but the ones I've purchased have held up reasonably well.

For my issue about rain or wiper wash fluid streaming in through the window, has anyone used the WeatherTech deflectors?

Signature.
Sounds like a good way to get water in your car.

The WeatherTech rain guards and molded mats are OEM for VW if you want to try them and report back!

Those window deflectors-you're ok if you only have window open a little, but if you open it when you're at a drive thru and it's raining, it falls right into your interior on the switches, same thing if there is snow or ice buildup. Other than that they are good and have held up well so far. You also get some wind noise from window, as they are in-channel mounting, which can be a little annoying.....

All I want is to open the window a little without the water coming in. I hate wind noise, though. Is it like the whistling some roof racks cause?

My son has deflectors on the front windows of his MK6 Sportwagen and they do make noise.

Funny this never bothered you in your '03 Wagon. I find that rain drips into the cabin if the window is cracked in my MKIV.

I have deflectors from them for the front, specifically for opening the windows a centimeter during cooler weather.
