I picked up my 2001 galactic blue Jetta, GLS TDI w/ cold weather package last Tuesday. I am completely sold and have been reading the forums on this site for the past several hours. I am overwhelmed by all this insightful information and even more excited about my new Jetta. I have a couple of questions;
1) Is there a better brand of gas station from wich to buy my Diesel in the Toronto and east area?
2) Is there a good VW mechanic in the area?

No leather, I took a beating on my drade in so I was stretching the pocketbook as it was. I'm definitely considering some mod's not sure what yet. I want to make sure that I don't void the warranty, I also don't have access to a garage other than for a few hours at work so I'm limited this time of year.

I always fill up at a Pioneer station close to my house. I'm told that Sunoco owns Pioneer, and one guy I know who's been driving a TDI for many years now says that Sunoco diesel tends to give him the best mileage.

As for mechanics, I know of one in Brampton. However, you've got 2 years to find a mechanic with the car still under warranty.

Shell has good quality, low sulfur diesel.

However, you should always buy diesel from a station that gets plenty of truck traffic so that you get fresh diesel. Some of the less frequented or isolated stations still have summer diesel in the tanks. Although it may be a bit cheaper, and you will get higher mileage from it, it's also more prone to gelling. Similarly, in the spring/early summer, you'll get winter diesel from the quieter stations, costing more, lower mileage, when you don't need to worry about gelled fuel any more.

Merry Christmas
