Hello I’m a young TDI owner. I’ve owned my VW TDI for about a year and a half and Ive had the DPF and EGR fixed/replaced twice since owning it. Luckily it’s been covered by diesel gate. Since the warranty is out next January I’m considering deleting the parts. What do y’all think I should do or what should I expect money wise. What are yall thoughts considering the legality of all this? I live in PA and go to school in VA so where I either places don’t have emissions inspections thankfully!

Deleting is still illegal even though your state doesn't require it. So consider that. The parts and tunes are getting hard to come by as the US government is cracking down on suppliers and tuners. So you may be too late already. You also have to consider that it's very hard to find anybody to do this kind of work as getting caught and the fines involved are not something you want to have happen to you. If you aren't able to do it yourself then it can get costly. To properly delete it once would cost about as much as it cost to replace it all with new parts. But after deleting you don't have to ever do it again. I would budget at least $2,000 to do a delete if you do the work yourself. More if you have to pay somebody else to do it.

Not sure if you can get delete parts into the states anymore. Rawtek can’t ship south anymore and there are rumblings that darkside will be unable to as well soon.

I just heard about this today when I called Cascade. Pretty crazy. I hope Darkside isn't prohibited from shipping to the US in the future - I've ordered lots of stuff from them, not necessarily delete related, in past years.

If you're willing to drive north, I can't see why you can't book a hotel in montreal, leave your car at a special garage and leave the next morning. Don't idle too much at the border and voila, your car is deleted. Don't take my word for it though, I do that in minecraft. ;)
