Come out to Montana. You can get permanent registration for anything 14 yrs old or older.
hell yeah -- that's why I run expired Montana plates on all my California ****boxs

Massachusetts Antique Vehicle limitations:

An “antique motor car” is any motor vehicle over 25 years old maintained solely for use in exhibitions, club activities, parades, and other functions of public interest. This includes test drives to prepare for such functions and transportation to and from repair facilities, and not used primarily for the transportation of passengers or goods over any way.
that's weird; most states have both "Collector" and "Antique" plate designations

My brother had a PERM plate on his '02 Civic when he moved east. Unfortunately he gave it to my Brother in Vermont so the plate went away.

That's not going to work for me. These "old cars" are still in frequent use.
Pretty much mirrors Michigan, that’s why my Jetta and Taco stay normally registered. I bought plates for the Taco but found myself driving it everyday, not worth the stress of waiting to be pinched for it.
The K5 sees minimal use, car shows, also test and tune during deer hunting season

That's pretty much how NJ does it too, though they also require that the vehicle be stock (no modifications). That's why both of the vehicles that I own that are >25 years old have standard plates on them - If I'm gonna keep them, I'm gonna drive them!
