I am in the process to replace my thermostat with these instructions: Instructions

The question I have pertains to the part where you remove the top alternator bolt and loosen the second one in order to tip the alternator forward. I am assuming that I need to release the tension on the accesory belt with that 15 mm nut first, correct? Or can I just tip the alternator forward without touching the accessory belt at all?

Thanks!

I have not had to remove the altaernator as of yet, but any time you need to move or remove something in the belt drive system you should remove the belt. You are correct on the tensioner though, I forget which direction you need to turn it but make sure to use the hex head that is cast into the tensioner when you go to remove the belt.
