Door looks good.

I actually drove mine today. Haven't been driving it much. Had to jump start it. Has a battery drain issue.
Yes, I think it turned out pretty well. I'll let it cure for a month or two and give it a Finesse It treatment and a waxing.

Took the hatch trim off to extricate the tailgate release motor. Like a caveman, I have been having to use the key in the hatch to open it.

Showed almost infinite resistance across the terminals. :(

I split the gearcase and once the motor was out, I cycled it by hand and tapped it around a bit.

Reassembled, and lo-and-behold, it works again.

My guess is that the brushes are worn out, so it's only a matter of time before it quits again.

Currently waiting for the ebay/Chineseum replacement to show up. :D

New thermostat and coolant. What a silly design with the heater-hose air bleed. My Allroad was the same and was a pain to get all the air bled out

I just removed the small line to the reservoir and filled till it just burped from the metal rail.
Good to see another Passat saved from the chains and envious you had two post! :)

Pulled the cam cover to verify my fears and yup, I need a new cam. #4 cylinder exhaust valve follower is dished and the lobe is showing the start of scoring even though the chamfer is still there.

Had the AC system recharged & checked for leaks. Put the wife's old Golf 17" wheels on the car. Pulled the windshield washer fluid level sensor & cleaned the probes so I no longer get the low washer fluid warning & chime. No more rain x washer fluid...

Lol...i almost did the same. My mirror has rattled since purchase in December. Decided to dig in. Found a spot as big as a penny was holding it onto the backing. Some gorilla glue gel made for a quick fix. I pulled a mirror on one of my parts passats first to make sure i wouldn't break my good one.

I fixed my drivers with super glue last year. I ended up buying that one as well though because after the pass one went I checked it, and its already peeling off again. Ill keep the old one and reglue it to have as a backup. Guess ill have to keep the mirrors in mind/check them after another 140k haha

Turbo boost hose replaced, one side of one set of front pads replaced and fix stuck brake piston that wore out those pads prematurely, took it to the shop to have both front outer CV boots replaced ($600!! - this is why I try to do all my own work but I couldn't face doing that job...).

New tires - I went with Conti Pro Contact. They call for 94 load rating for this car on its OEM 17" wheels. The last set of Toyo Versado only lasted about 40,000km! Wish I had kept track of things to claim the warranty. I will this time. 96,000km warranty on these. The Toyos had 100,000km...

I hear it is the AWD that chews up tires...

Changed rear coolant flange and TP gasket. After all the moaning and groaning I've read about, the job was not bad at all! A little tight but very doable. No more leaks!!

A few months ago I had the same mirror fall off. Bought new glass on Amazon for $17 delivered.
I still enjoy driving mine.

The plastic back on mine was cracked so I needed the plastic too, and I don't think those cheap mirrors have the same curvature/angles as the stock mirror. I only buy OEM for parts I consider critical and to me that's one of them.

I almost got the set from ECS that had a blind spot section, but I saw a similar one in person and hated it...it's not that hard to shoulder check haha

New thermostat, new elbow and new cct. That's enough for the month of May.

Installed pioneer blue tooth head unit. Got tired of the casset tape adapter and the stupid humming.

Huge upgrade in sound over stock head unit. Amp and 2 IB 10' subs will be added to the rear deck for a more full sound. It wont thump for blocks but as a lover of music i don't want modest mouse to thump.

Replaced transmission with a VW reman. Original died at 260,000 km. This two years after replacing the TC.
