My Jetta has been turned in and VW has compensated me. Everything went very smoothly. I've also purchased a Ford Transit Connect as a replacement for the Jetta. I will miss my TDI as I think it was the best car I ever had. What baffles me the most is VW made no attempt to sell me another vehicle. I mean nothing! "Here's $22K from us. Go out and line the pockets of our competitors." Oh well.

I just want to say thank you to everyone at the forum. There's a wealth of information that I hope continues to help those out there that decided to keep their cars. Thanks

This is normal. I have a friend who works for a VW dealer. He says that the "buy back Ambassadors" do not work for the dealers or for VW (they are private contractors). He also says that the VW sales people are forbidden from trying to sell cars to people who are turning in their TDIs. They cannot talk to you about buying new cars unless you ask them about it, they are not allowed to approach you and try to sell you a new car.

They would be quite happy to sell you new VW - but you must initiate the conversation after you are finished with the buyback process.

I posted it in the other forum. But I just bought 2011 JSW with a 2.5L gas engine. The price was too good to refuse.

The shysters, er, I mean people at the local VW dealer sold us a '17 GSW All Track S since my wife wanted an AWD vehicle for winter driving although she doesn't drive in the snow. They gave us a pretty good price on it, and my wife liked it after a test drive.

What's funny is they asked what our next car would be. The Jetta TDI was our "last car" until the TDI hoo-ha, so with any luck the GSW is our last car since it'll likely last longer than we do at 80 and 76 yrs old.
