Thank you , I never really thought of it . Its been cold lately and I havent changed my fuel filter in one or two service periods. I will change the fuel filter and add fuel treatment for cold. Had trouble starting car today ,took three turns of the key before starting a couple times. Never did that before.
The weather report says in the thirtys By this Monday! Holy Shiite ! Thats butt freezing cold for the Coast but not unexpected. Thanks for the heads up !
Well thanks for everyones helpful input. After changing the fuel filter adding Power Service fuel additive for gelling and adding G12 coolant I felt quite confident I did everything I could do to winterize My TDI Jetta. Expecting freezing weather come Monday I was ready for my 45 minute drive to work.
Sunday night the weather was diminishing and temperatures were dropping.
Monday morning its butt freezing cold winds out of the North at 30mph wind chill 25-28 degrees its 4:30 in the morning pitch black outside except the lonesome porchlight as I looked out at my car.
At 4: 45 I had to depart and bravely opened the door and walked into the abyss of night and freezing air , and walked right past my Jetta and jumped into my wifes Chevy truck and drove away to work!

Good grief man, the least you could have done is see if it started lol. If it makes you feel better, it's 10*f out right now here, I expect around 4*f when I need to leave for work. I'm 90% confident the car will run. If not, I'm taking the truck too.

I have lived in snowy places before. Alaska for 4 and 1/2 years. Have experience driving in the snow. But people down here have little experience with it and they go crazy. Better just to stay home if possible.

It's always fun watching it snow the first time every year.... regularly see people forget that 4wd helps them get moving but forget all cars already have 4wb(4 wheel brakes)🤣
Even more fun with snow tires on.... remember having a 4x4 pick-up trying to crawl up my rear going up an on ramp....kinda the aggressive get outta my way I can do it better than you cause I have 4x4 attitude it seemed...so I said screw it... accelerated knowing I had snows on....got faster and fast suddenly they were gone....just a cloud of snow 🤣

A friend of mine lived in Rowlett, he said the same thing. Pure chaos with an inch of snow. It's actually very similar up here now, but inexcusable. It seems 95% of the people here now drive as though they have no idea what it's like to spend a few days out in the cold. If They did, they would show more appreciation of the sanctuary and safety of that warm cab, as well as the safety of others on the road with them.

Not often we see this.

Took me a second to find it, lol. Yep, you got me beat. One of the guys I work with claimed he saw -10*f this morning in his truck. Can't confirm since I didn't think to look at the thermometer when I left the house. Car still started so life is still good.

Agree.... The Touareg didn't miss a beat, even after sitting there for over 13hrs without block heaters, engine\tranny heater pads, and all the other crazy stuff people go out of their way to "address" issues and flaws that don't exist in these..... it just took way longer to reach full operating temps.

Thats been my biggest issue with these temps. The car takes forever to get decent heat. I may block off part of the intercooler since I already have the rad mostly blocked off.

Maybe I'll start one of mine today, I know the Tacoma will touch off without a problem. My daughter gave me the passcode to her Internet tv program, so I'm immersed in watching Longmire at the moment. My granddaughter burnt me out skating and sledding over the weekend

I cold start (below -20C/0F) once each winter as a test, but otherwise use the frostheater. I don't see a reason to freeze my butt in reduced visibility while it warms up.

Not sure which vehicle you're referencing, because modern TDIs have PTC heaters that virtually eliminate reduced visibility by the time you brush off your snow, etc.
