Sorry I thought I was being civil all along. She has a thread I'm sure your aware of. Very nice results. So it wasn't an Aligator tune on her car. Damn Charlie did a killer job on that tune. Mad props to the both of you.

I thought maybe the type of dyno, correction factors or something else had to do with the shapes of the curves. I'm not a dyno expert and am trying to learn. Not trying to crap on anyones thread.

First of all DB, I do not see Jetta-Girls graph on this thread. 2nd, She is running a S/T 3B Tuned by Charlie at KERMA. There were no 20's at this Dyno. The only other graph that looks simular is DroppedJet's also KERMA's tune. Now that we have that out of the way, could we please keep this thread civil?

Ben: I watched your videos and it almost sounds like you were getting a bit of clutch slip or maybe wheelspin at the start of the pull. I got a bit of wheelspin with my Golf because I had slicks on it and they weren't warm. That could account for the shape of the graph.

Like the water spray idea (it was water, right?) Good idea especially down there where it's warmer.

And very little smoke in dropped jet's dyno. I'm inclined to agree with Charlie that it may be underfueled.

Yea it was water. we just used it to help keep the heat soak down. there big fan was not working. just that little one. I like the way my car pulls and i think everyone that drove it did too.

Here's some more stats..Dynojet 248C..2-2000lb rollers..60 degree start(Ben), 85 degree end of event (I dynoed) 25 degree difference..

By the end of the day, the temps were 85 degrees, this is when I Dynoed mine..I should not have rolled it..Between them not being able to get the pickup to work and the afternoon heat/lack of fans..This is why my numberrs were so low..I couldn't even get a max torque because of their pickup loss signal.

Dave, I have a C note that says my will take yours in a 1/4 mile...Want some of that, since you have more torque?

Since we went by SAE #'s temp should not change it . Ill get the dyno e-mailed to me. In the morning sae prob. brought down my #'s and raised yours. and you put atleast a gallon of water on your Intercooler. But i agree on the Tq #'s but you can figure that out with the math thing.

He said he will e-mail the file to me. Ill have it by tomorrow. So i can tell you all what you got without SAE climate corrections . I know it lowered the #'s on the first couple of cars and raised the last couple. But i think we agreed to claim only the SAE one b/c that helps keep everything even. But most people will claim std when it helps them i wont. Ill post it here but its not what im going to go by.

Peter are you talking about the change in noise that i described here...

I get the biggest kick out of listening to your video.
Turn the volume up, and just listen...
You can hear spool-up
You can hear the overshoot, then the under shoot, then sorta mellow out.
I actually watched the video before really staring at the graphs, and after hearing what i did, it makes perfect sense why your graph has a little "damped sinusoidal" look to it up until 75mph and 3400rpm... then all sounds and looks great.
If that's what you heard, (i can't belive i'm going to say this)then that's the tune not perfect yet. Above someplace Ben said that's already been fixed.

Much smaller chance of death involved with rookie quarter milers and rookie autocrossers getting ahead of themselves.

I am looking at the mounts right now....More fabbing-here we come!!! Cut/hack/chop, Dave it sure is fun..

Those dog-bone torque arm would be real easy to fab..I will post back on how easy it was to replace/mod, but not for $200...

It was good seeing some old friends (even some old Powerstroke friends) and it was cool meeting some new people.

Charlie was sharing some nice info which I enjoyed and Ben gave me a ride which made me realize how these cars SHOULD all run.

Thanks again.

PS. I did not dyno as it would have just been another RC2 but I hope to have a turbo and updated programming soon enough and then I'll dyno!

It's ok Suns, I didnt dyno either due to the fact I am basically stock. However, once I get the new Mk5 downpipe on and get RC1, I'll go back to Colvin and post up some #s.

I'm happy with Colvin's...

I went by the place you were talking about in Cove the other day, Ben. I didn't dyno though. It's pretty much a hole in the wall. I'm suprised you trusted your car with them. I don't see any problem wih going to Colvin's. If I don't drive like I have been since I got the tune:D, I can make it all the way there and back before my gauge even comes off of full. It's not that far, and they did a pretty good job as far as I can tell. I think our motors and motor mounts is what caused all of the issues. I don't think it was their pick-up. They're helpful and seem to know what they're doing. Maybe we can make this either a semi-annual or annual event. It would be fun. Everyone at work was impressed when I showed them the picture of our line-up at Kreuz Market. They didn't believe me that these motors had a cult following until they saw the picture.:)

It sounds like the dyno shop needs to learn to mount the tach pickup properly. I saw an earlier post mentioning removing the skid pans to gain access to the crank pully. This is not necessary and very time consuming - sounds like they are newbies.

The magnetic pickup should be mounted on the motor, not chassis, to eliminate relative motion (ie. pickup should move with motor). The optical pickup/reflective tape can be placed on the pump nut's (flat surface) and if needed a simple steel plate bolted to the nearby steel TDI engine cover bracket. The pump/cam sprockets are simply 2:1 (crank-to-cam) output and very easy to calibrate rpms.

There is a cool tach pickup available now (CAP8500) that simply clamps onto the battery and listens to the alternator's AC ripple and is very easy to calibrate for any dyno. The output has an inductive loop to place the dyno's inductive pickup to.
