I am planning to go to Waterfest 2015.
I've gone several times and I enjoy it each time. I won't be racing, but I'd love to watch some TDIs go down the strip and make some clouds.

Please register your car for the diesel drag race you'll be able to park in the pits with us and you can run your car for fun ! It's better than parking outside left field somewhere please do it

If I do go down, I won't be doing the drag strip thing. Will still be cool to meet some more Stage III guys though...

I'm shocked there are so few members interested in the

TDI SHOOT OUT @ WATERFEST
Well, I did the mods on my car for longevity, not so much performance. The stage III is definitely more fun to drive, but I'm not a racer in a straight line. The spirited drives through windy roads is more my style :)

This!

however, I'd still love to see some 1/4 mile times... I may even join in the fun for the heck of it :D

The auto-x does look like it will be more my kind of event however

I'm not sure what your feelings are on the 1/4 mile bracket race. The 1/4 mile is a lot easier on your car then the auto x. There will be TDI members helping you fielding any questions on the 1/4. You can take a bunch of practice runs. Then you basically run against you own time that you determine down a straight line.

Hope we see you there!
Hmmm. I'll consider it. I will be there for sure and as my sig now states, I've been bumped up to stage 3 :D

The pull in 2nd and 3rd is incredible. I'm still running stock clutch and DMF though so I'm not trying to punish it too much

Stock clutch and DMF for me as well. No problems so far, and I have yet to experience any flywheel shudder.

Guys it's well worth it to park in the pits for a couple extra bucks, you don't have to put your car out in the middle of nowhere and walk for 20 minutes to just get in.Your parking your car in the pits (inside) where you can hang with us walk around the show and go back to your car in 2 minutes for anything. You don't have to beat on your car just run it normally down the track for fun.You paid for it so enjoy it! Plus as you drive back after the 1/4 mile thousands of people check out your car and give you the thumbs up and take pics and such in the pits, its well worth the extra fee trust me I've been racing there since 1991.

My opinion is that the autocross is harder on ME than it is on the car, and that's what I like about it.

Drag race? Hold it straight, don't stall, shift three times, wham bam thankyou... 15? 18 seconds?
You think NASCAR is boring? Take out the banked turns, remove 18 of the 20 cars, and that's drag racing.
Beating (or being beaten by) the guy in the next drag lane is easy.
You got there quicker? You won. He did? He won, but you make excuses as to why. You don't have to be the best, just better than the loser. In a field of 32 you only need to beat 5, and only once each. Mere adequacy is scant reason for celebration as champion.

With Auto-x, steering inputs for vehicle placement, braking threshold, multiple accelerations, shifting down as well as up, create a much more cerebral, and also much more visceral, 3 to 5 times longer duration adrenaline release per run.
You can't beat the clock in Auto-x. You can't beat yourself either. You can always improve. You are never perfect. You may well have the FTD but you know that you could have done better.

Either way, get your butts to Waterfest and cheer us on (Even if you choose to not drag or auto-x).

We would be glad to have you join us with either car. We certainly have nothing against R's but would rather see your TDI.

I'll send out a contact # a day or two before.

Tentative plans as of now has me there with my R on Saturday and I will come back Sunday with my 06 BRM jetta (tune + stage 3 colt cam) for Sunday, won't be near the fastest but will more than do the job for bracket racing :)

Also will have a friend with a 11 golf stage 2 tune that his car will be in one of the vendors booth's until Sunday, and he plans to get it to participate in the diesel event also..

Thanks for letting me know. This all sounds good. I have about 2,000 views on several forums. I don't have a lot of response. I assume TDI's will register at the gate.

So in the prep it says to remove your floor mats as well as everything else. Do you guys think that includes our snap in driver and passenger mats? Personally I'd like to keep those in cause it adds grip for my shoes.

No TDIs Currently, I have an R36 Corrado. I've had an ALH Corrado swap, AHU Corrado swap and 2003 TDI Jetta
Having built a number of cars and broken a number of parts here is my take, the drags are tough on the diff, motor mounts, and other driveline parts where autoX is rough on bushings and the cones. If you are afraid to break parts then go autoX and when the car gets toward its limits lift off the throttle. I wish I had my Corrado up here because I'd love to do both groups in a TDI class.
