On board the Door County Maritime Museum's tug boat John Purvis. I must add that all of the restoration and maintenance work is done by volunteers. Some of the best that I have ever seen.

Main engines' controls and our very informative guide/docent.

Main engines, GM 12-567s. That's 12 cylinders of 567 cubic inches, EACH!

Port main engine name plate.

Gen Set with 6-71 Detroit Diesel.

Those EMDs are absolutely beautiful. We drove around the peninsula on Monday and I completely forgot about doing the tug tour. :(

That inline 6-71 is the same as what the Fireboat uses for its generator. Its two main engines are 8v92s.

Thanks for posting the pics! Great restoration.

Great photos. Looks like a MKIV Jetta fest though! What was the actual mix? Anyone know?

There were more CR cars than MKIV.:D There were more in the back lot.

Maybe those with CR cars didn't want to add miles before the buyback!
I must be the odd ball:D. I took the long way home. The total trip was around 3K.:)

There were a few BMW diesels there too. A 535d (mine), 2 335d's, and an E70 X5 35d.

My trip ended up being 2,300 miles and a little extra, which undoubtedly ate into our buyback/fix amount. It was worth it, though... great trip in a great car. :D

Here are just a few of the 153 photos that I uploaded. The photos were taken by Steve Reinke, so if you want any photos in higher resolution for yourself, let me know and I'll put you in touch with Steve.
