nothing is carved in stone this early in the game, I am sure plans can and will change between now and then.

Great banter from those of you on the east side. Makes me remember the Ken Burns film about Horatio Nelson Jackson who successfully pulled off the first automobile drive from west to east in 1903. It only took him 63 days!
That and the car he drove was used with 1000 miles on it! A 1903 Winton.
Wow, have things changed. If you have never seen or heard of the story check it out! http://www.pbs.org/horatio/index.html

I plan to drive, have a co-worker that wants to tag team. Anyone wanna be a third in my golf for the trip? makes splitting fuel & the hotel room that much cheaper for all of us.
I would strongly advise against traveling across the country with 3 people in a Golf. That just has "terrible" written all over it.

It's definitely not going to be a cheap trip.
I'm pricing it out at close to $1k for the 'weekend'. Fuel, tolls, fest registration, fest meals, fest hotel, fest raffle tickets, possibly a hundred or so to bid at auction.
Maybe a meal or two heading out and back, maybe a hotel night or two during the commute, too.

And if you Fest goers are lucky, it might have something in common with the Portland hotel. Luxurious ballroom.

Unfortunately I won't be able to attend. I'll probably buy a ticket to support the forum, though.

I'll be going to Oak Harbor after the fest also (my wife's family lives there). I think there's going to be a lot of TDIs on that rock that week.

Have Fun!

Just remember that the sign on the door does not say "Laddies", it says "ladies"!

WOOHOOOOOOO!!! Great job everyone for making this happen!!!

If you want a real hippie experience, swing by Eugene and see the SeQuential biofuel station with plants on the roof and solar panels and agave soda in the soda fountain!

I'm surprised a thread hasn't started about gluten-free fair-trade sustainable dairy-free, meat-free food for the fest. ;)

One of the worst jobs I have ever had, was spending part of a winter making cedar fence posts for a hippie rancher in Le Grande OR, on a vegatarian diet.

I will attest that the tempeh ruben sandwich (heated) at the Sequential station in Eugene is just about the best thing I have eaten in a while. Hubby and I raved about it for 2 days!

Yeah, Sequential is quite the experience. I'm from Eugene but moved before it was built. When I went home this last summer to Eugene I found it on the 5 just south of Eugene and it just fits. Even the attendants know about venting and are happy to oblige. It figures when you drive around the back and see 3 other TDI's that are owned by people who work there  What a great station :)

Glad to hear it Keli!! That ruben is definitely getting a cult following. The special right now is a bagel with chevre cheese and various toppings. :D

We've got 3 people at the station with TDI's, and another 4 in Salem and Portland. Plus one employee with a diesel Ford Escort from '85 I think. Pretty crazy...

Guess we don't need to have a GTG in Eugene now, we'll just save the energy for Fest!

We need a gtg in Eugene!!!!!
Consider it a warmup. Like jogging before a big run. Or drinking a beer before a party. Or having a local gtg to inspire excitement about a huge Fest.
C'mon, don't back out now!
I'll be there, so that makes at least two attending.

Does SeQuential have B100? I don't do B20 in the summer.

B20 is like claiming the onion rings on your steak make you a vegetarian.

Guess I'm local--back to the PNW for us :).
I'll find a way to do the 10 minute drive. I've got the award before for longest driven to Fest, I think I've earned a short drive for once!
Cheers,
