My Wfe has a 2010 A3 TDI quattro Sport. After running it for a few months we gpt the above code and the engine management light on. I looked around the net and fould out about the "L" shaped bracket, so I bought one and to cut a long story short; fitted it but it hasn't resoved the issue. The car has done 77,000 miles with full history, so my thinking is probably the butterflies are not too bad but maybe it's a clogged manifold issue. It's a plastic manifold car and it looks a bit of a nightmare to remove, also I believe the fuel system need de-pressurised and then re-pressurised once it's changed, which I believe has dangers and I have never done it before. I think from reading someof the threads on here Gaages seem to ahve a kind of formula fornfixing this, replace manifold and I think the EGR pipe, there may be other things. So just looking to get the whole story, so I know what I need to buy and whether I need a specialist to fit it all or if I can do it myself, appreciate any advice or information.

There are just too many to list....
You need a new intake manifold assembly.

Tedious, but not hard. There is no "pressure" in the fuel rail, the rail pressure regulator exhausts all the pressure after the engine stops. Only a harmless dribble will come out. But yes, the whole high pressure system needs to come completely off between the HPFP and the injectors. Then the engine harness needs to be pulled loose, and the glow plug connectors can be tricky and fragile.

I might be able to do that then, question is do I want to :) Is it likely then that it's mainly just black crud in the manifold jamming the flaps etc. if so is it likely to be anywhere else?
