Ok - go with me for a moment. The Jetta TDI Wagen and sedan, according to VW.com, weigh 3285 lbs. with an auto tranny. Vw.com also states that the sedan accelerates from 0-60 mph in 8.2 while the wagen takes 9.5 sec. Anyone care to explain this? Same weight, same motor, same everything - but a 1.3 sec difference to 60 mph? What am I missing gentlemen...

They both have the same engine and approximately the same weight. I don't think the Mk6/Mk5 body makes much of a difference. I think one of the 0-60's is a misprint.

I probably should have put this question in the mkV section because those figures are for the 2009s on the mkv platform. But still - it applies to this year as well I would imagine. Anyway - just caught my eye and VW is like a deer in headlights when I ask them. I think the sedan time is low (more like 9.0 sec.). Either that or the wagen's weight is not accurate. Who knows. Just thought I'd point it out.

Go to the Mk5 forum and set up a drag race between two volunteers who have a 2009 Jetta sedan and a Sportwagen. :D

Any weight difference is maybe a couple hundred pounds, like having an additional person in the car. The sedan has a slight edge in aerodynamics. But neither is enough to make a 1.3s difference. Either way, I hear the new 2.0TDI has some serious guts, so you'd like either one.
