DS, Thanks for posting the link. Shame they limited the contest just for 2009s and earlier years couldn't participate. Guess they don't want others to see they're making cars getting worse mileage than they used to.

BTW your sig - "WVO: The car equivalent of going bareback with some chick you met on CraigsList."

That's how I met my EX-wife. Oh, well I kept my WVO burning Benz and got rid of my soul sucking bride. Have years since remarried and got my TDI. What will happen next? ;-)

I have to love the mileage war segment they have on that website but it is pretty far from scientific as you could guess.. 80+MPG yeah right.

I watched the 25 below video a while ago, and wasn't impressed. It don't count until the engine block and fuel tank are cold-soaked, and that takes hours. They carefully avoid telling you how long the car spent at that temperature. Not long, is my guess.

Its great that VW is finally beginning to actually advertise the TDI, and cool that they're using the Internet to do it, but this web site is kinda disappointing. The fuel economy competition insures that people will post outrageous, unbelievable numbers. The 'starts at 25 below' video cheats by not having the engine block at 25 below. And so on. This is such a great car, with so many competitive performance features (yes, like cold starting), they don't have to game it to promote it. All they have to do is tell the unvarnished truth.

So glad the Golf TDI is returning to the NA Market. My guess (..read, hope..) is that we'll see alot of these little guys around. Good looks, good fuel economy in a common rail.... Bring on the chip tunes!!
