I watched the 25 below video a while ago, and wasn't impressed. It don't count until the engine block and fuel tank are cold-soaked, and that takes hours. They carefully avoid telling you how long the car spent at that temperature. Not long, is my guess.
Its great that VW is finally beginning to actually advertise the TDI, and cool that they're using the Internet to do it, but this web site is kinda disappointing. The fuel economy competition insures that people will post outrageous, unbelievable numbers. The 'starts at 25 below' video cheats by not having the engine block at 25 below. And so on. This is such a great car, with so many competitive performance features (yes, like cold starting), they don't have to game it to promote it. All they have to do is tell the unvarnished truth.
