Both Acuras were very nice. ILX is more fun to drive but I can imagine that for a long drive the TLX is much more comfortable. The cabins were very quiet even at Hwy speed.
I drove a TLX, overall a nice car. Lil on the small side for me. I personally couldn't get over the front end styling, don't like the "beak"

So far I'm planning on keeping mine. :)

I'm still debating. Would like a high horsepower car but I wouldn't mind a good performing hybrid or plugin (modifying suspension n bigger wheels). We all have time to decide tho. Then again I might just keep mine. It's been 100% reliable no major issues. Bought it with 0 miles before it was even for sale off the trailer.

Tried the Mazda 6 and Camry yesterday, both felt cheap...

There wasn't any Volt or Sonata plug in at the dealers so I'll have to tried those some other time. Next one on the list is the A3.

Anyone plan on keeping their TDI?
From many sources i have read that the likelyhood of a viable fix is near 0 for the DPF TDIs ( not counting the ad blue). If there isnt a fix per the court system they will have to remove the cars from the road. Not positive how they will enforce it but it sounds like keeping the TDi may not be achievable.

There's some good aftermarket and OEM JDM fixes for that problem:

If that's the case I'll turn mine in. I finally got a tune and fell in love with the car all over again! But if it can't happen then, well it was surely a load of FUN and I can truly see why everyone that has a tune loves the added mountain of torque :D

I have firmly planted myself in the keep the car camp. I wouldn't sell the car for $15k now (buyback minus we lied to you $$) if someone walked up and offered me cash, so why should I sell the car to VW because they are offering. I bought the car with the plan to put at least 200k. right now I've gone through the highest depreciation years of the car. The only way the buyback looks highly beneficial is if I'm keeping the car until late 2018 or longer.

I rented a Buick LaCrosse for a business trip and it is a V6 and has 305 hp and 290 or so ft lbs torque, but I think the TDI sportwagen has more punch.
I wouldn't trade for this car.
I like some of the bells and whistles compared to my 2013 JSW but all in all I like the VW for road trips, especially if I am paying for the fuel.
I looked at lots of vehicles when I gave up and bought the second JSW when the 2009 hit 235,000 miles.
Now I wonder if there is anything out there I really want to replace the JSWs with.
Well maybe a Touareg, but the maintenance cost scares me a little.

The first gen Touareg is the spooky one to deal with. I would think the newer V6 tdi model is a bit nicer. Though I think they may suffer problems with the hpfp as well

Well there will be a settlement for the Touareg too. Surprisingly it's not a "clean diesel" either. I have that too. Lol. Yea I love diesel. But that adblue. Grrrr. Had it replaced and ran me $2800 to replace the whole system because the light wouldn't turn off and that was the "only" fix. Light doesn't go off? It won't turn on. There have been a few minor issues. But that maintenance cost can be pricey.
I know the wife will want to give them back that car.
I'm still deciding on mine.

Some of the VW dealers around me have the Passat's 1.8T R-Line w/ Comfort package MSRP around $26,300 for a hair over $20k...may be tempting if they sweeten the deal anymore with another $1k as part of a loyalty plea for the dealers to keep you in a VW. If I can get a brand new Passat for $19k, get $16k back for my Jetta TDI that I drove the crap out of (130k miles in 4 years) I can be out of pocket $3k for a brand new car with NO CAR PAYMENT...that's a win to me imho.

got mine tuned about a year in ( 4 years ago) made the car so much fun. Thats one reason why i wont do the fix but rather the buy back. It would hurt my soul every time i drive if it has been neutered.

I got the obd2 flasher with the kermatdi tune. You might be able to get your car flashed back to stock then have vw flash their tune then send the new vw flash back to your tuner. They'll send back the new updated tune...

Might be a bit of a hassle, but you might still be able to keep your car in the process. Should still get a bit of a settlement from vw as well...

Of course, the buyback would give more.

I'm personally firmly on the fence about it. We'll see what kind of incentives vw offers.

the hpfp issues are called fuel issues...we dont seem to have anywhere near the issues up here and i know plenty of common rails....and the touareg is even less likely then a jetta which is already less the 2%.

Getting a lot less than what I originally thought with these calculators. Brings my choice down from new to used. Lol.
Been looking at trucks but will have to look at used for sure. Dang it

What were you originally thinking you would get? Math mistake or did they change a formula on you?

Looking at either a Jetta 1.8 Comfortline; a Sportswagon; or a Ford Focus.
The VW's are slightly ahead, but my daughter bought a Focus a few years back an has had 0 issues and is quite happy with it.

Ditto.

Though I'm not planning on giving mine back, or letting them touch it, or taking any more money. Hell, I just dumped another $2800 in her which is more than KBB trade-in value.

But if I HAD to...6 speed manual Accord all the way, baby.
I'm going to test drive one this week. Drove a Mazda6 last week. It may come down to availability of a few features or just plain finding a car with a stick on a lot around here... I'm pretty sure if you want a manual mazda6 with XM and heated seats, you have to have them installed at the dealer or aftermarket...

Oh, and I'm still annoyed about our lack of wagon choices in the US...

How in the devil would they enforce this? They can have my 2012 when they pry it out of my cold, dead hands. :)

Pure speculation, but they could make them illegal to register. All depends on how far the govt wants to go to punish VW.

I have a 2011. Saw the $17k plus the additional $5k we were getting. Once I signed up on the VW settlement site it's only $14,500 including the $5,100. Got my hopes up big time. Funny thing is I'm not getting that much over what today's value is from the NADA guide. Not counting the $5100.

What's yalls impressions so far on the amounts you're getting? Happy? Unsatisfied?

If the numbers stay the same from a couple of months ago, I'd be happy. The simple fact that it's way more than I owe on it means it's way better than any trade I would have ever gotten on it... And at the time it was more than the blue book value even without the 5k added.

Huh? Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger if you want V8 rear wheel drive. And the Impala is still around. And Ford Taurus, although the only ones I ever see on the road are cop cars.
Friend of mine has a Chrysler 300 SRT8. Pretty darn fast.
It's funny, I was planning on a 300C Hemi. My financial situation changed, fuel is cheap and I thought what the heck. But someone totalled my Jetta, forced the issue and I couldn't find a 300 in the colour combo I wanted. By chance I also stopped into my VW dealer, and after thinking about it and getting about $8k on the hood, drove away with this:
