So why hasn't anyone done this yet? Just curious. If I had a garage to work in, I'd already have done it.
This seems like the easiest plug-n-play method to get an AWD TDI in the US. Plus you get all the sporty R32 bits like big brakes, recaro seats, 3-spoke steering wheel, body kit, etc.
