Came across this looking at other youtube TDI videos

Why does it "bounce" off the rev limiter like a gasoline engine and not just hold an RPM like when you hit the stock limiter at 4500ish rpm?

Being your not cutting spark like on a gasser, could it just limit the pump travel to set the fuel quanitity needed for x rpm?

Purely wondering out of curiousity.

It's explained in ecuconnections and some other thread, they are setting the fuel range to cut quickly, so it never can find balance. People do it because it "sounds cool" - popcorn limiter is the term.

It actually messes up boost. When I had it bouncing at 2600, I could do only around 6 psi. Now smooth 2600, I can hold almost 10 psi.

And if you cut the fuel not so quickly - you get a steady RPM and actual launch control.

The pop-corn stuff is not good for anything but Café racers.
