TDI Engine Swap

Hi All:

Does anyone know if its possible to swap a '96 Passat TDI engine into a 96 Passat GLS? Are the mounts identical? Any issues with connecting the transm?

I swapped a tdi engine/tranny from a 96 tdi wagon into a 96 GLX vr6 wagon. Both were 5 speeds. Absolutely everything could be taken from one car and installed onto the other. I didnt drill a hole, cut a wire or have to modify any part. Having said all of that... it is necessary for you to get all the bits and pieces from the donor car to make it work easily. I'm not sure that the trannies have identical ratios, so you will probably need the tdi tranny as well.

The trannies won't have the same ratios. A complete donor car would be your best friend.
