TDI Engine codes

I found the Wikipedia page for VW diesels, but it's a little hard to tell which engines are the common ones. What's the engine code for the popular 1.9TDI in the mk4s? This? ASZ?

ALH for up to the end of 2003.
BEW for 2004, 2005 jetta (not 2005.5 and later Jetta)
BEW for 2004-2006 New beetle, Golf.

Would there be any ECU programming difference between an 06 golf BEW and and 04 jetta?

I can guarantee that there will be programming differences between the two. Whether those differences are sufficient that the ECU cannot be swapped between the 2 cars is not something I am qualified to say. Well, other than the normal immobilizer issues, which would be the case even if you had 2 identical cars from the same year.

A tuner, or someone who has done a lot of work with various ECUs would probably be able to answer this question.
