Touran BKD 2.0 140hp DSG
hello everyoneAs the title says first diesel and dsg car
Previous car was yugo with fiat uno turbo, after that civic.
Now proud owner of touran 2.0 2004 140hp and started reading how what when at least what i could find wich is not much.
Curious about several things:
What if/are common problems with 2.0 engine?
Why the screen is dim when car off? Can i turn off?
If i add android radio do i lose any oem options?
How hard is to add oem alarm, parking sensors and mirror dip in reverse? and wich modules to look for
Alredy activated some door lock unlock options via vcds.
Should i reset the dsg?
How long to warm the car since i drive 7 km to work in morning and 7 back? Usually once a week after work drive more, are there any issues with this rhythm of driving?
What do i need to add launch control ( if its doable)?
Whats a cheap way to tune the engine & gearbox? and is advisable since i read the dsg is good for 350Nm while the engine is 320?Should i disable egr, delete or none?
Door open lights on no beep? also no driver belt beep? Can i fix it with vcds or its hardware? Passengers belt beeps.Anyone added footwell light, inside door latch ambient light?
How about paddle shifters? Is it as easy as buying the steering wheel and enable via vcds?

Thnx alot if answered anything

your car doesnt have a factory alarn? do you have the electronic keyfob? if you do not have smog testing where you are it is a good idea to delete and tune if you have no warrenty.
there are aftermarket radios that work with the steering wheel controls. check crutchfield.com.
the seatbelt/ door/ headlight alarm was probably disabled by the previous owner. probably disabled the alarm beep also. i like not hearing the alarm all the time
the MFD display dims slightly when you shut the engine off because the voltage drops.
The dsg can be tuned to add lanch control but it is hard on it. its like dropping the clutch in a manual. also being that you short trip it i would delete. short tripping is hard on the emissions equipment. I would drive 100km on highway once weekly to bring everything up to temp.
parking sensors is a lot of wiring and coding to get working.
The auto down mirrors you have to install power folding mirrors and activate pwr folding and mirror down in coding.
A lot of this depends if you have the highline edition or not. (what cecm/ bcm your van has installed.

wait didnt read fully. passenger belt alarm works but not driver? either the switch was bypassed or its broken. If the gauges are coded to germany the door open chime is disabled.

Can't comment on much of that, but warm the car no more that 1 minute, do a hard run maybe once a week, if you normally drive easy. If it's a PD, they have had cam issues, but usually only from the wrong oil being used.
Get it all working good before you tune. It will cost like 200 USD or more, but worth it.

Can you provide any links to learn how to add launch control?
From wich car should i get the folding mirrors?

well for the alarm. to see if it still works, have a window rolled down. arm it and open the door from the inside. if your lights flash then the horn is disabled or broken. You cant simply add launch control. the tcm has to be tuned and the option coded. Do you have vcds? your 2004 does not have a dpf. so you could haave it tuned. just flash back to stock when emissions testing. Im not sure of the tuners in your area. im also not that familiar with the bkd engine. Kerma is a emissions friendly tuner. do you have power mirrors? im not sure how to go about adding power folding to it. I have found that with my car its easier to manually fold them than to spend the 400 usd on mirrors just for the power folding and auto tilt. the small round stick-on mirrors work fine for seeing the curb. i can always tilt it with the button if i need.

any vw 505 5w-40 oil is reccomended. and for needle sweep you have to have vcds. also for the alarm too. it will tell you if its broken or just disabled.
