Thanks for the info. I will be using a CHP transmission. My area is hilly, but I do 1-2 trips across the country every year so lots of flat highway miles too. I was trying to decide between the .62 and .658, I think I am going to go with the .658. The 4-5 gap is going to be pretty bad either way, but I think the shorter of the two is the better bet.

I recently went from a .85 5th to a .68 5th in my tdi swapped Volvo and I haven't done much testing yet, but it seems like mileage has not improved much at all, to my surprise. That's going from 2700rpm at 70mph to 2200rpm. If you look at the BSFC map, it looks like there's a lot to be gained.
