my 2011 TDI jetta push to start sucks so far, might be the 1000w sub in the back draining electricity but i have to hold down the push to start for 10 seconds or longer every morning. is it just the sub?

Mine (2013 Golf - no electrical work to date) takes about 5 seconds... I believe the delay is for glow plug heating, but I could be wrong. Mine if I step in and hit "start" (e.g. car on, engine off) let it sit for a couple seconds, then step on the clutch and hit start again to turn on the motor, it starts right away, which is what leads me to this conclusion.

Your could be slower due to the AMP, or due to what I assume is colder weather, requiring more work on the glow plugs part to get the combustion chamber up to temperature for ignition.

Turn off your sub amplifier before you start - that'll prove if the drain is from the amplifier or glow sequence running due to cold weather.

Iced up intercooler. Search hard to start in these forums and read volumes. Better yet take to dealer and tell them hard to start and they should have a fix.

unplugged the subs last night and still had the problem, must be cold weather but it started when night temp was just low 50's in maybe high 40's. ill take it to the dealer he seems like he knows the cause

Does the engine crank continuously for 10 seconds while you push the button, or do you push the button and wait about 10 seconds before the engine cranks?

I didn't think it has been cold enough for iced intercooler issues yet, but who knows. If the OP is motivated, he can run his Jetta up on ramps, remove the plastic skid plate, pull the IC hose, and check for water. Relatively easy to do.

I saw that too...so simply worked around it.
Press once briefly to turn everything on, then again hold to start.
starts immediately when doing it that way.
