Hey guys I have an 05 Passat TDI with a blown motor. I also have an 02 Jetta TDI with a good motor that I would like to put in the Passat. Is this project worth doing and is there anything I need to know before I start? Thanks

The most important thing to know would be that the jetta engine won't work in the passat, at least not without major modification.

Two very different engines/ECUs/exhausts/intakes/harnesses/on and on, driven in large part because one is transverse-mounted and the other longitudinal. Two completely different chassis families as well. Big big job.

It's doable, but not easily. You'd have to get a European 1.9ve wiring diagram for the Passat, then the euro computer and etc, as well as switch all the components for the ALH engine. You're better off getting the engine for the Passat.
