I pulled my spring/summer set off this morning and got my winter setup on. Stock 16"ers painted satin black. Replaced the big centercap with a set of smaller ones to fit the wheel hub opening.

Before:

After:

The new setup just looked so good to me that I had to take some pics where it sat, LOL

Where did you get the small center caps? I just sprayed my winter wheels green and that would be perfect to fill the holes.

I am surprised on how good they came out - well, IMO that is.

I wonder if they will fit in the hub hole. I have the stock Monte Carlo wheels and normally the big I guess "hubcap" and covers an extra 8" of wheel.

Your set up looks good tho. I like the beefy tire look of a winter wheel lol.

Thanks.

Its hard to say if these would be the ones for your wheels. I am lucky, I have a buddy that's the service manager at a local VW dealership. He told me to bring a wheel in and he'd have the parts guy find the right one. Mine happen to be for the newer Jettas. Took one out of the package and snapped it it. He also gave me the VW part number for it when I started my search on ebay

The parts dept. guy did say that most VW wheels will use that sized cap. The only other is the larger Toureg centercaps

A couple of closer pics...

...of the Plastidipped lower rear bumper

I wasn't sure if I would like or not and liked having the option of easily removing it.

I'm sure you know, but linex isn't easlily removeable - should you change your mind. I've seen others that have painted there instead too.

I think it would look bad a## on red.

Yep i know, so is the soot on my red bumper because i have my exhaust coming out the back-up lights. But i'll be hopefully going to get turbo S bumpers soon the stock bumper is perfect to try the linex on. And yes ive seen it on red and its pretty BA.

We got 5” of snow last night and it was still snowing on my way into work this morning at 6:30. The streets were unplowed and I decided to head up our steep hill out of our neighborhood. The bug took to it like a champ. I have to admit I was smiling as I made my way through the stuff. I thought, “This is just like our Jeeps without the ground clearance” LOL

The snow tires I bought last summer, just for this reason, are paying off big time

Absolutely zero issues going up that hill & driving to work, just at a 40 mph max pace as I knew it would be.

2 pics I shot before heading off to work:

Ugh!! I'm so jealous, we have gotten ripped off in Chicago with no snow. Oh I got 55mm center caps that fit beautiful in my green monti carlos. Thanks for the info.

I've been pleasantly surprised how this NB handles the elements. The only downside is the nastiness all over the car from the salt & chemicals.
Glad those caps worked for you, man. Mine are holding up just fine.

How many inches down did you mount your TDI emblem from the VW logo? Glad to see a fellow TDI Beetle driver not afraid to tackle a little snow. Mine does ok in the white stuff, but it does get a little squirrely over 35 mph in the 3-4" deep stuff.

The tires make all the difference in the world. I actually was looking forward to that drive in through the snow. I really wanted to know what it could handle.

The TDI badge is 2 1/4" from the bottom of the logo to the top of the letters.
I had some OEM chrome letters mounted a little higher, but when I found these I decided to drop the TDI a little lower.

I have a 2005 NB too, but yours blows mine out of the water!
