SVO as an additive at <5%

I've spent several hours searching and reading about using SVO as a fuel additive and have heard all the pros and cons. However, there is one detail (filtering SVO before adding to diesel) I have not seen discussed. I've read about filtered WVO and SVO, but not filtered SVO. Does filtering SVO through a <5 micron filter help lower the viscosity and make it more palatable for an ALH fuel system? I'm curious about adding 1 quart per fill up as a way to improve lubricity. I'm losing biodiesel pumps in my area.

Since SVO usually refers to unused, clean VO, I don't know what filtering would accomplish. Unless even virgin oil contains contaminants, what's there to filter?

My thought was it would filter out the fats and make the oil less viscous.

I don't think a filter will do that. A centrifuge perhaps for the fats, but if you want to thin it out that will take additives, not filters.

After having used a WVO set-up for a while I would avoid using SVO as an additive.
There are too many good alternatives if all you want is more lubricity.
Biodiesel is way different than SVO. Veggie may not blend completely with the
diesel in your tank and when burned could leave behind residues that will
accumulate and cause problems.

not recommended. clean low acid WVO burns fine... when heated to 180 degrees. low temp WVO would be a disaster. maybe in an old mercedes or a isuzu 2.2 but i dont think the tdi fuels system would like it
