Hey all,

I drove my normal route home tonight like always and made it home just fine. However, when I went out to a neighbors to cut wood, I noticed the Jetta had a severe vibration when letting off the accelerator.

Being concerned, I pulled over to make sure I didn't have a flat or lose something and that was not the case; appears all is normal under the car.

I cut wood for a while and then headed back home and it was still there.

Here are the times when the car vibrates the worst:

decelerating
decelerating down hill(without braking)
decelerating into a right hand corner

Times when it improves:

accelerating
accelerating into a right corner
cornering to the right (Accelerate or decelerate doesn't matter)
braking up or down hill or on level

A few things to note:

I changed the control arm bushings last week TT rears and stock fronts (Thursday night)
I had new tires put on the car on Monday (two rims)
I had an alignment on Monday
Tire place informs me the rims the two new tires are on are bent (Car has a little vibration)
I replace the most bent with my steel wheel (runs much smoother)

That is it in a nutshell.
Any thoughts or suggestions on things to check?

Thanks,
Christian

I can only accept that answer to the point of.... it ran for three days without vibration and then BAM no build up or ramp up to vibrations...Just started.

Not sure what you mean by slow down shudder, but yes, it shudders/vibrates when I slow down (non braking).

I would have someone check the engine IQ to see how low it is and maybe check the injectors and the readings on how they are firing. Does it vibrate when you are stop at any time? It does sound a lot like slow down shutter (You can do a search on those 2 words to find out what we are talking about) which would get worse as it gets colder.

I have been down this road before. There is a bent rim still on the car? I had the luxury of a spare set of good wheels and tires. Try replacing the bent one with a good loaner and see what happens.

Yes, there is a bent rim on the car, but it ran smooth for the past three days.

I do not think it is engine as it does not occur during decel on making a right corner.

Going out to take apart the side it is coming from.

Let you all know what I find.

I have the SOlution!!!!

Well, all, I feel kinda like a dumba$$, but at the same time I get to CHEW some A$$!!

I went to take the wheel off to see what was loose behind it and BAM, what do you know, not a single tight lug on the wheel!

All of the lugs were three to four revolutions undone!

I know they can work their way loose, but in three days is a little ridiculous!

SO, tomorrow I get to go back to the tire stealer and get some lovin!

Thanks all for your input; Jason or whomever, I would still like to know about the slow down shudder and what that is all about.

Be sure to get the wheel inspected while you're at it. Depending on speed/time that the wheel was loose you may have rounded out the lug penetrations in the wheel.
