First time doing an oil change on my new car and everything seems hidden behind something and a pain to get to. Whats the best way to get to the drain plug, oil filter, and all that stuff. I figure I will have to remove the plastic skid plate from the bottom but from there what else do I need to do?

Any help is appreciated, its a 2005 New Jetta 1.9l TDI.

Drive car onto Rhino ramps and remove the bottom cover.

Lift and pull to remove the top plastic covers.

Pull plug on oil pan.

Remove the oil filter cap and filter.

Replace filter and O-rings.

Install plug in oil pan.

Fill with the correct 505.01 spec oil.

Reinstall covers.

Repeat every 10,000 miles or once a year, whichever occurs first.

Take yourself and your car to the local TDI guru and get an oil change lesson.
Do you know about the special oil that is required? Get the oil and filter from
the dealer. keep some extra on hand along with a fuel filter in case you clog one up.
WWW.TDIPARTS.COM sells all this stuff and a service manual too.

Are you at 5,000 miles already? Don't change the oil before then.
Found this with a search in the A5 subforum, terms= 'oil change'.

Very good tutorial, with pictures!
Remember to use the right oil...... 505.01 +/-$8 liter at the dealer.
