People sometimes steal cars for transportation rather than to sell...I dont get it.... this is a 96? its like a $300 car is it not?

Without the 25 gallon tank, yes. The tank adds about $5000 though.I dont get it.... this is a 96? its like a $300 car is it not?
I paid $500 for the one I had. Worst thing I've every spent $500 on, lol. Thing was a pile of garbage.Where are these $300 96 Passat TDI wagons you speak of?
Similar thing happened with my parents in the late 70s. They always left the car unlocked, keys in the ignition overnight, as we live in a rural area. Woke up one day and the car was gone. It turned up several days later at a mall about 25 miles away with over 2,000 miles put on it. They figured somebody took a trip to Florida.A friend of mine left the engine running in his car at the ER at hospital while helping someone. The car was stolen (really a junker). About two weeks later it was found in the hospital parking lot with the keys in it. It had been driven over 1500 miles..
So, obviously, someone needed it for transportation (happened in Chicago).
