That gap is likely to remain for a while, or even get worse. Refiners are desperately trying to produce more distillate fuels, primarily heating oil and ULSD. But they can't make diesel without making almost twice as many gallons of gasoline.Saw this while doing errands today:

As I predicted last week, prices on the East Coast rose the most, the West Coast the least. It's all because of the sailing distance from Rotterdam. The West Coast is a long way from Rotterdam. East Coast supplies will be tapped first for export to Europe.

At the same station? Probably reflective of different delivery dates for the two fuels.I found premium diesel for $5 gal and d2 was $5.50. that was a bit odd
Yeah. The same station. Lucky seven. I thought it was odd also. Added a bit of oil to the fuel to add some lube to the d1At the same station? Probably reflective of different delivery dates for the two fuels.
An obvious mistake. Somebody raised the price for the D2 but forgot about the other one. Soon to be corrected. At this time of year, the premium stuff should be about 7 or 8 cents/gallon higher.I found premium diesel for $5 gal and d2 was $5.50. that was a bit odd
The "premium" diesel is just D2 with extra additives for higher cetane and better lubricity. Most winter diesel is D2 winterized with additives rather than blending with D1 these days.Yeah. The same station. Lucky seven. I thought it was odd also. Added a bit of oil to the fuel to add some lube to the d1
I wonder what it is on the truck routes toward Texas. It was quite high there early this year when I went down to Houston. Prices on goods will climb if that’s the caseAnd there calling for a Diesel shortage this summer so even higher prices to come.
