Sound Off on Current Diesel Price

I drove to near Peoria Illinois yesterday. 295 miles one way pulling a trailer with my Passat. I got 26 mpg, which cost me right at $100 in fuel. I could have taken my Tacoma without a trailer, but it would have cost $160 for the trip and I couldn't have taken my daughter along as well.

$4.29 for RUG and $5.29 for diesel at the local Speedway.

They dropped RUG down to $4.19, but left diesel at $5.29.

Two stations about 2 miles apart in the same small town in eastern upstate NY: Citgo at $4.949, Mobil at $5.459.

RUG dropped to $4.09 while diesel is still holding at $5.29 at the local Speedway.

Most Twin Cities stations are still charging $4.89 or $4.99. But a handful are in the $4.29-$4.49 range.

That was Monday. Crude futures were up $7 on Monday and ULSD futures were up 20 cents/gallon, so I don't know if there will be any further price declines.

Paid $5.959 at Costco Elk Grove this morning. Went up $0.40/gallon in 2 weeks

While running around today, I noticed a spread of $4.65 to $5.09 per gallon. Both in SC.

Local costco is $6.09 for diesel. WTH? It was $5.85 earlier in the week, down from $5.89. What's weird is Simi Valley Costco is $5.65.

In other news, buddy of mine is taking his family on a vacation in their trailer. He just filled up at $9/gallon for regular in Death Valley.

Advice you can use: do not buy fuel in Death Valley. Or just buy enough to get out of Death Valley.

one thing that i have realized with prices being so fluid is that if you see it cheap, do not hesitate. i watch one (name brand) station that i drive by twice a day. prices will change from morning to evening; evening to morning. like, a significant amount too! not just a few pennies. needless to say i was pretty pleased when driving home today and the sign said $4.59--about $.40 cheaper than what i see as "average" in my metro area--so of course i stopped. i was again pleasantly surprised when i pulled up to the pump and it said $4.49. i filled up

tl;dr: $4.49/gal @ QT, 51st & Grand ave in PHX as of 6pm 3/30.

In San Tan Valley it's 5.20/gal still. I do a lot of amazon shopping and Fry's fuel points for $1 off up to 35 gallons, and I use all 35 gallons. (Car + Fuel Cans)
