Someone is paying extra attention!If you go back and look at pages 55-60 or thereabouts in this thread you'll see that 14 years ago diesel prices were very similar to what they are now. And those were 2008 dollars. $5.00 adjusted for inflation is about $6.50 today, so prices would have to approach $7.00 to be the highest ever.
That was true in this area, I know. I was driving a Jeep Comanche that got 13mpg at that time. The highest I saw diesel was $4.05 and the highest I saw gasoline was $4.15.If I recall one thing that was different in '08 was at some point in the price spike diesel was cheaper than RUG. That certainly isn't the case now, but maybe prices will adjust as the home heating season ends.

Noticed that drop of 25 cents on Friday. both car and truck were already full.$4.99 Diesel, $3.99 Reg in SC today, got a couple stations cheaper but not by much.
