Soot in DPF?

I recently received a check engine light on my VW 2014 Golf TDI.

Original error code P0401
EGR "A" Flow Insufficient Detected

I haven't noticed any problems/sounds that seem unusual so I assumed it was just a sensitive/faulty check engine light caused by the aftermarket coldair intake I installed a few weeks prior. I took it to a VW dealership and this is what I got back....

"Found excessive soot in post particulate
filter due to incorrect air intake system
Found P0401 stored. performed testing
and found intake air box is not original
and aftermarket intake system is
installed. snow flap is not present and
fresh air inlet is also missing. inspected
particulate filter and found soot is
accumulating past the DPF due to
aftermarket intake system. recommend
replacement of the particulate filter and
intake air components to correct
concern. If stock intake parts not
installed recommend particulate filter
and egr filter replacement."

They quoted me $3300 plus another $800 for a stock intake system. I'm sure there is a simple way around this like cleaning my EGR or even just doing a EGR DPF delete. I love this car so much and it's only at 70k miles!!! Please provide knowledge 🙏

There are just too many to list....
Well first, ditch the Mickey Mouse intake. Put the OEM parts back on.

Second, your car has a bad DPF. And it has allowed soot into the low pressure EGR tube and clogged it shut.

Has nothing to do with the intake nonsense you installed, though.

This is common. If you do a search here, there seems to be a new thread on this every couple weeks.

Your car was possibly under warranty, but because you messed with the intake, it gets the good ol' VOID on the RO, and there is a note in their system. It has been blacklisted.

I'm so sad about the black list. ****. Anyways, I'll be putting the OEM intake in. Do you think I can clean the egr and be okay? If not what do you recommend I do?

I'd like to delete but I don't know how to get around emissions!
i believe some counties in AZ do not have emissions inspections. a PO box could serve you well.

otherwise, i think AZ is visual inspection + OBD only for the time being.
