The passenger occupancy sensor in my '15 SEL is sometimes crazy sensitive.
For instance, sometimes simply hovering my hand over the seat, without touching it, will trick the car into thinking there's someone sitting there. Other times I can put a laptop and my phone (while charging!) on the seat with other crap and it doesn't report a false positive.
This is a real nuisance because it sometimes will start reporting a passenger part way through a trip, which means I have to stop to re-arrange all the stuff that I've plopped on the seat.
Is this common? If so, is there a fix? (other than keeping a dummy seatbelt buckle in the car or disabling the sensor) Is there a way to tune it to be less fussy?
