Hi all,

I have not been on these forums for quite some time - my car's been running great. I have a 2000 Golf TDI (Automatic) with about 34k miles on it.

However, we just had some really bad storms and flooding here in Austin, Texas, and now my car is acting funny. If you guys could give me any pointers before I take her in for some emergency service (gotta long trip on Wednesday for Thanksgiving coming up), I would really, really appreciate it.

First, It seems pretty sluggish starting from a complete stop - you press down on the accelerator and it just sits there for a half second or so.

Second, last night I had briefly turned the car off, then when I tried to turn it back on, the glow plug light did not light up, and the car would not start. I tried a couple of times to no avail. Finally, I let the car sit for a few minutes, and it started up fine.

Lastly, the air compressor doesn't seem to work anymore - or, air does not get cold, anyway, even when set on the coldest setting.

For a little background, it did flood where I was working, and the guy in a Miata that parked directly in front of me had extensive flooding inside his car - had to make an insurance claim. The VW seemed to survive perfectly at first, and just started acting strangely Saturday. There was no flooding inside the Golf.

Thanks in advance!!!!

Problem #2 fits the description of a bad Relay 109. See: Relay 109 - Main Power Supply Relay for more info.

The first problem might be a bad "throttle position sensor". This is actually a part of the accelerator pedal, but it may just be because of #2 (as noted above).

How high did the water get? For the AC it may be just coincidentally low on refrigerant. Or the radiator fan control relay may have been done in by the high water.

Could debris (mud, etc.) have clogged up the exhaust pipe causing sluggish performance?
