Exactly, it's the ubiquitous dino diesel 15w40, and one of the better of 'em.

These [collectively] multi-grade oils were responsible for allowing diesels to last 2x to 3x longer than with SAE 40 oils.

Too much ash for a European commonfail, but in my modern VE would work well depending on expected low temps or block/oil heater. Has even worked well in PDs.

A couple of years ago, I did a TB job on an '03 JSW TDI. It has just under 120k miles on the original belt.

Anyway, in discussions with the owner, I learned he had been using Chevron Dino 15w-40 for diesels from the first oil change. Now, at just under 140k miles, he says his engine still runs fine!

Hey I use that oil in my 92 ECOdiesel!

Some Delvac 1 pr0n would be even better, that stuff makes me hot!
My dad ran Delvac 1 to around 20k intervals in his ALH.

I see "exceeds.....Volkswagen 505.01, 502.00, 505.00...."
That is worth more to me than any API stamp.

So has it been tested against those standards? I'm not poo-poo'ing the products, I'm comfortable that they are high quality. Just naturally a skeptic. The Amsoil writeup reads well, but that is a point of view of that company, certainly not an unbiased summary..

Yea, came from a BIG company (at the time). And it looks like someone was trying to take a bite out of the lid area.

Plus, this stuff was black out of the can......no worries about how fast your oil turned black!
